Children's book collection

THE MUSEUM HAS A CHILDREN'S BOOK COLLECTION, WHICH IS PARTLY PRESENT IN THE MUSEUM ITSELF AND PARTLY (STILL) WITH THE ORIGINAL COLLECTOR, MR. T. VAN HIMBERGEN, ON HIS BOOKSHELVES AT HOME.

Before his retirement, Toon van Himbergen, a teacher at Pedagogische Hogeschool De Kempel, listed all the children's books in which the war plays a role at the 50th anniversary of the liberation. And since then he has made every effort to complete that collection. He himself says that his collection is still 'far from complete' and the list is 'at most a first inventory'. But it contains more than 9,000 stories in more than 5,000 books! You can find the list below as a pdf, sorted by the author's last name. The most up-to-date list appears every three months.

The underlying database (approx. 1GB) is refreshed quarterly and is also available for research purposes, via WeTransfer. You can see how the database is organised on the attached screenshot (Microsoft Access 2007 and higher). For sending the file we charge € 15 excl. VAT, so € 18.15 incl. 21% VAT. You will then receive the latest version that is available with us - which therefore still does not offer a complete overview and you can therefore not derive any rights from it. The total amount must be transferred to our account in advance. After receiving the payment we will send the file. For understandable reasons, there is no right of return and credit. For the record: the database may not be published in any way whatsoever (the copyright rests with War Museum Overloon).
