Warmuseum Overloon presents D-DEX: an immersive D-Day experience!

Overloon War Museum is launching a groundbreaking new experience: D-DEX, a unique event that takes visitors back to the Normandy invasion. In this impressive setting, visitors embark on an immersive journey through one of the most significant episodes in history: the landing at Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944.

Visitors follow in the footsteps of the American 146th Combat Engineer Battalion, one of the first units to land on the Normandy beaches. Their mission was to clear the beaches of obstacles under heavy German resistance. The presentation not only features video and audio simulations but also immerses visitors in realistic settings, special effects, and authentic collection pieces. The combination of visual and physical elements makes you feel like you are part of this historic event. D-DEX is therefore not only unique in the Netherlands but perhaps in all of Europe.

The unofficial opening will take place this Saturday, under the watchful eye of the museum's new junior director. Immediately after, the experience will be open to the public, and the D-DEX presentation will enter a test phase. The museum will use this time to further fine-tune D-DEX.

"It is not only impressive and moving but also offers visitors a completely new way to reflect on the events of World War II," says the director of Overloon War Museum. "The presentation is specifically designed to appeal to a younger audience by offering a contemporary way of commemorating and remembering, without losing respect for history."

The museum is open every day this week! Visit D-DEX and experience the invasion of D-Day up close!
