Military vehicle collection

Pak 97/38

In the museum, we have a few German anti-tank guns. Well-known are the Pak 38 and Pak 40, with a calibre of 5 and 7.5 cm respectively. But we also have a special variant of these: the 7.5cm Pak 97/38. This hybrid gun was assembled by the German army after the French capitulation to make up for its own shortage of anti-tank weapons.
It was a French barrel (from the Schneider 1897 gun). And that was mounted on a German chassis (from the Pak 38). Although effective against older tanks, it could not compete with more heavily armoured Allied vehicles. Nevertheless, it remained in use until the end of the war.
