Eyewitness Event August 31st and September 1st 2024!

Welcome to the latest event of War Museum Overloon

The Eyewitness Event takes place again on August 31st and September 1st of 2024!

During this weekend, various participating re-enactment groups will present themselves to visitors against the historical background of the Second World War. In a professional setting with uniforms and encampments they bring history to life. Visitors can take a look in American, British and German trenches, fortifications and tents and have a conversation with the re-enactors. All participating groups have been specially invited for this event and they take their role very seriously. They even fight each other several times a day in specially organized 'mock battles'. Complete with blanks, pyrotechnics and vehicles. The museum itself also presents special eventful displays and you will imagine yourself back in 1944. In short, a unique experience in a historic place that you will not soon forget.

Where does the name come from?

The name and logo of this event are derived from the Eyewitness museum in Beek (L). Unfortunately, they will close in October of this year and part of the collection will be transferred to Warmuseum Overloon. We think it's a nice tribute and we are happy they completely agree to name this event as a small tribute to them. And the name  Eyewitness also completely covers the load of our great new event!
